FAQ's

What should I look for in selecting a lawyer to represent me?
Before hiring a lawyer, you should spend some time researching the law firm. Ask for information regarding lawyer's education, training, and law firm's experience dealing with cases similar to yours. Ask about the possible adverse consequences if your case is lost. Ask whether the lawyer intends to work on your case alone or whether other attorneys or staff with be providing support to the lawyer.

How can I become a client of Mattson Ricketts?

In almost all instances, it is necessary for you to meet in person with someone from Mattson Ricketts Law Firm before we will agree to represent you.  This provides us with an opportunity to properly evaluate your claim, and provides you with an opportunity to determine whether Mattson Ricketts Law Firm is best suited to address your needs.

What can I expect from my first appointment at Mattson Ricketts?
At Mattson Ricketts Law Firm you will find courteous, professional and experienced staff. We reserve plenty of time to meet with new clients to discuss relevant issues. We always suggest that new clients bring relevant documents (whether in electronic or hard copy format).  This will enable us to better provide you with initial advice.

I have never been involved in a trial. What can I expect?
Most cases get resolved prior to going to trial. Whether or not this happens in your situation, we prepare every case as if it might ultimately be decided by a jury in case a settlement cannot be reached.  By the time a case is ready for trial, our clients spend significant time with the lawyers and staff. This prepares not only your case, but prepares you to know what to expect if your case goes to trial.

How do you decide whether to accept a settlement or take your case before a jury?
The ultimate decision to settle belongs to you, but deciding when to accept or reject a settlement offer is rarely simple. Mattson Ricketts will advise you of the advantages and disadvantages of litigating your case versus settling. We will vigorously represent you in all settlement negotiations.

Where can I park in Lincoln?

Mattson Ricketts will validate your parking in the Security Federal/Mutual of Omaha parking garage.  The parking garage is located on "N" Street between 13th and 14th Streets.  "N" Street is a one-way street heading West and you will turn right into the parking garage.  Additionally, there are many metered parking spots on the street outside our office.
